About The Role

Team – Vitality Programme

Working Pattern - Hybrid – 2 days per week in the Vitality Sandton Office. Full time, 37.5 hours per week.

What this role is all about:

Requirements Engineers turn complexity into clarity. They partner with stakeholders to shape, validate, and manage requirements that drive real business outcomes.

As a Principal Requirements Engineer, you will lead requirements definition across multiple value streams and domains, acting as a trusted authority on complex change. You will set direction, ensure seamless integration across journeys, and raise the bar for requirements engineering practice across the organisation.

 

Key Actions

  • Lead end‑to‑end requirements development across multiple value streams, from discovery through validation
  • Drive alignment on complex, cross‑journey requirements with senior internal and external stakeholders
  • Assess and manage change impacts across journeys, guiding decisions to minimise downstream risk
  • Own and maintain high‑quality journey‑level documentation, specifications, and models spanning value streams
  • Ensure strategic alignment of requirements with organisational goals and delivery priorities
  • Identify risks, gaps, dependencies, and optimisation opportunities early in the lifecycle
  • Enable collaboration across value streams and delivery teams to ensure cohesive outcomes
  • Represent requirements engineering in planning events, agile ceremonies, and technical discussions
  • Act as a subject matter expert, coaching and mentoring Requirements Engineers and uplifting standards
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, including ethical and effective use of AI‑enabled tools 

What do you need to thrive?

  • Proven experience leading end‑to‑end requirements development across multiple value streams or complex programmes
  • Strong ability to align complex, cross‑journey requirements with senior internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated expertise in assessing change impacts, managing dependencies, and reducing downstream risk
  • Advanced capability in producing and governing high‑quality requirements artefacts spanning journeys and systems
  • Established leadership experience, including mentoring and coaching Requirements Engineers and setting standards of practice
