What This Role is All About:
This leadership role is all about Shared Value insurance product in Ping An Health Insurance (PAHI). The role drives Product Development and Vitality Shared Value Integration for the Vitality Asia team in the PAHI environment. The role is primarily responsible for driving the localization of Vitality’s Shared Value Insurance (SVI) model in China. It plays a pivotal role in embedding product innovation, advanced analytics, and technical marketing into PAHI’s core offerings. It is responsible for shaping a compelling narrative that positions PAHI as a thought leader in consumer-centric Shared Value health insurance, while aligning product design, health engagement, and distribution strategies with Vitality Shared Value principles.
A critical aspect of this role is providing strategic communication support to the Deputy CEO, Vitality China and the Vitality Asia expert team in PAHI, including developing high-impact presentations and go-to-market materials for internal and external forums, with Shared Value Vitality integration at their core. The role also contributes to strategic planning by leveraging data-driven insights, global Vitality expertise, and technical storytelling, to support the PAHI leadership team in its ambition to generate Shared Value.

Key Actions:
1. Product R&D and Innovation Leadership
- Co-lead the product R&D function and product development function of the Vitality Asia expert team in PAHI to define, design, and launch Shared Value integrated health insurance products tailored for the China market.
- Lead the development of new product initiatives and enhancements to existing products, to better generate Shared Value, including:
- Conducting market, client, and competitor research
- Identifying product evolution opportunities
- Building business cases to support prioritization and investment decisions
- Collaborating with PAHI technical teams to assess feasibility and ensure operational readiness
- Support the PAHI ExCo lead of Product R&D in establishing and running the PAHI Product R&D Lab:
- Coordinate cross-functional collaboration across PAHI teams
- Monitor progress of innovation projects and proactively resolve issues to ensure delivery
- Facilitate structured engagement with senior executives on product design and strategic direction
- Embed Shared Value into insurance products
- Ensure all product innovations are aligned with Vitality Shared Value insurance principles and reflect the latest advances in health, wellness, and Shared Value strategies
- In the process, collaborate very closely with members of the Vitality Asia team working on similar issues in other Vitality Asia businesses, to ensure consistency of approach, and to ensure efficient leverage of work done across the Vitality Asia team
2. Market Insight and Product Integration
- Use live market insights and behavioral data to inform Shared Value insurance product development and positioning.
- Contribute to shaping PAHI’s SVI proposition by integrating learnings from Vitality’s other markets, including the other Vitality Asia markets, and insights from the China competitive landscape
- Collaborate closely with PAHI distribution teams to ensure technical product narratives and go-to-market messages resonate with target audiences, while advancing Shared Value
3. Shared-Value Insurance Capability Localization
- Drive the localization of Vitality’s Shared Value Insurance model in PAHI, across actuarial, product development, Health &Wellness, distribution, and digital functions
- Ensure alignment with Vitality’s core principles, including:
- Creating mutual value for insurer and insured
- Incentivizing healthy behavior
- Enhancing customer engagement and long-term risk profile
- Leverage data and wellness insights to enable:
- Evidence-based decision-making
- Claims prevention and behavior-based pricing
- Seamless integration of health services and insurance
- All based on Shared Value principles
4. Technical Marketing and Thought Leadership
- Work with PAHI counterparts to establish a Technical Marketing function in PAHI, to develop go-to-market messages across distribution channels for individual and group business segments, healthcare professionals, and government stakeholders, focused on Shared Value
- Work with that PAHI Technical Marketing team Craft technical marketing content that highlights PAHI’s service capabilities, clinical expertise, and unique product features, all in a Shared Value framework
- Work with PAHI counterparts to build PAHI systems and processes to ensure the consistent and effective dissemination of Shared Value technical marketing materials across all channels
- Work with PAHI counterparts to effectively manage end-to-end production of launch messaging, presentations, and collateral – from concept to delivery – all with primary emphasis on Shared Value
- Work with PAHI counterparts to translate complex actuarial, health, and clinical data into clear, compelling narratives for agents, intermediaries, and corporate clients, with a focus on how Vitality and Shared Value work in the respective environments
- Work with PAHI counterparts to use research and statistical approaches to demonstrate the efficacy of the Shared Value Insurance (SVI) model, producing outputs of a quality suitable for external publications
- Partner with PAHI leaders to co-develop technical content and marketing messages aligned with PAHI’s strategic business goals, with a focus on generating Shared Value
- Interface with Technical Marketing leaders across Vitality, notably in Vitality UK and in the broader Vitality Asia team, to leverage global assets and localize them for PAHI
- Prepare high-impact presentation materials and analytical reports for internal and external forums, focusing on Shared Value
5. Stakeholder Management and Collaboration
In the domain of integrating Vitality into insurance product to generate Shared Value:
- Act as a trusted advisor to PAHI and Vitality senior leaders, fostering alignment, trust, and shared accountability
- Lead cross-functional engagements and multi-party working groups across Ping An Health Insurance, Vitality Health, and Discovery Health
- Secure buy-in on strategic decisions, navigate complex stakeholder environments, and manage expectations on shared project outcomes
- Act as a interface between PAHI and Vitality, identifying localization opportunities for Vitality's tools, IP, and methodologies
- Mobilize cross-functional teams across PAHI and Vitality, to deliver tangible, implementable solutions
- Shape and manage PAHI ExCo-level discussions on product structure and innovation strategy
6. Leadership and People Development
- Coach and collaborate with PAHI teams engaged in R&D and Technical Marketing
- Mentor less senior members of the Vitality Asia team in PAHI, and foster a high-performance culture across project teams
Essential:
- Qualified actuary with significant experience in health or life insurance, product R&D, and technical/B2B marketing, or significant actuarial experience
- Proven ability to develop and launch innovative insurance products
- Deep understanding of the Shared Value Insurance model and/or health and wellness engagement programs, and behavioral economics
- Comfortable operating in multinational, joint venture, or stakeholder-heavy environments
- Experience using research and statistical approaches to demonstrate product or model efficacy
- Builds strong business-focused relationships and leads by influence rather than authority
- Fluent in English; proficiency in Mandarin is a strong advantage
- Knowledge and experience of the China insurance & behavior change markets would be advantageous
