What This Role is All About

The Executive Associate to the CEO, Vitality Asia, plays a pivotal role in supporting the CEO and leadership team in executing strategy across China, South Africa, and potentially the UK and Singapore. This includes overseeing the CEO’s office operations, ensuring effective communication, project execution, senior-level reporting, and alignment with broader business goals. The role also supports governance, shareholder relations, and strategic initiatives with partners like Ping An Group.

With the establishment of the Hong Kong entity, this role will lead its integration into the Vitality Asia portfolio. This includes operational leadership of the Hong Kong office (within a matrix structure across China and South Africa) and developing key relationships with AIA and Amplify Health in Hong Kong.

Key Actions

Strategic Visioning: Collaborate with global stakeholders to shape business strategy and capability roadmaps aligned with Shared Value principles. Work with teams across South Africa, UK, China mainland & Hong Kong, Singapore and elsewhere to craft and maintain the strategic narrative for the CEO and the organization.
Senior-Level Reporting & Presentations: Prepare and deliver reports and presentations to executive committees and boards. Track KPIs and analyse the impact of initiatives.
Leadership Across Teams: Support the CEO in leading cross-functional teams, mentoring talent, and aligning team strengths with business objectives. Participate in the selection and hiring process to build and support high-performing teams.
Effective Communication: Facilitate open communication across internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment on business decisions and development directions across South Africa, UK, China, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
Corporate Governance & Shareholder Relations: Oversee governance for Vitality China, Ping An Health Insurance Investment, and the Amplify Health Joint venture between AIA Group and Discovery. Support the CEO to strengthen relationships among Discovery, Ping An Health Insurance, and Ping An Group, identifying new opportunities with Ping An companies beyond PAHI.
Market Research & Competitive Analysis: Conduct research and analysis to identify opportunities and inform product development. Present insights tailored to various audiences.
Project Management: Lead delivery of Vitality Asia initiatives, including scoping, implementation, and change management.
Executive Representation: Represent the CEO in high-level forums, ensuring consistent messaging and fostering strong stakeholder relationships.
Discovery’s Positioning: Promote Discovery’s leadership in the South African business community across Asia, maintaining ties with the South African Ambassador and Consul-General.
