At Vitality, we’re here to make people healthier and to enhance and protect their lives. It’s what makes us different, and it shapes the way we reward, lead and hire.
We’re now looking for a Reward & Payroll Director to set the direction for how we pay, incentivise and look after great people across the world. This is a rare chance to own reward at a business that’s growing fast. You’ll lead our global reward strategy, drive greater alignment across every market, and take accountability for a robust, compliant UK payroll function. You’ll work shoulder to shoulder with senior leaders across Finance and People, lead a lean, high-performing team, and stay hands-on where it matters. Big strategy. Real delivery. Genuine impact.
What you'll be doing
- Define and evolve Vitality’s global reward strategy, ensuring reward supports business priorities, organisational performance, growth ambitions and the wider People strategy
- Establish a globally aligned reward framework and scalable operating model, strengthening reward principles, governance and employee experience across multiple markets
- Lead the transformation of reward and payroll practices through improved technology, automation, AI, compensation planning and advanced analytics capability
- Own the design and governance of global salary structures, incentive plans and benefit programmes, including providing expert direction on executive and senior leadership remuneration
- Lead reward activity across acquisitions, integrations and organisational change, including due diligence, reward harmonisation and the development of solutions that support expansion into new markets
- Shape executive decision-making through market intelligence, sophisticated reward analysis, modelling and scenario planning, balancing employee, commercial, financial and risk considerations
- Lead the strategic approach to fair pay and pay transparency, establishing sustainable frameworks that address local requirements while supporting greater global consistency
- Provide strategic and operational leadership of UK payroll, strengthening governance, controls, compliance and continuous improvement while modernising payroll processes
- Lead annual reward activity including salary reviews, incentive planning and market benchmarking, establishing effective controls and reporting to ensure reward remains equitable, competitive and sustainable
- Build and lead a high-performing specialist Reward & Payroll team and develop influential partnerships across People, Finance, Legal and senior business leadership to deliver complex organisation-wide change
What do you need to thrive
- Significant senior-level reward leadership experience within a complex, fast-paced organisation
- Proven experience developing and implementing reward strategy across multiple geographies
- Deep expertise across compensation, incentives, executive remuneration and benefits
- Strong experience leading major reward transformation, harmonisation and global alignment programmes
- Experience leading payroll, reward operations or closely related employee services, with strong knowledge of payroll governance, controls and compliance
- Proven experience supporting acquisitions, integrations, organisational change or significant business growth
- Strong knowledge of reward technology, market benchmarking and people data platforms such as SuccessFactors, WTW or Remchannel
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate complex reward considerations into effective business decisions
- Proven ability to influence executive stakeholders and navigate complex challenges across multiple markets and business units
- Experience leading a specialist team while remaining actively involved in strategic and complex delivery
