What this role is all about:
As an Actuary in our VitalityLife reinsurance team, you’ll play a key role in shaping how we protect our members and support the long‑term health of our business. You’ll lead the oversight, review and implementation of our reinsurance arrangements, working side‑by‑side with expert teams across Vitality to understand needs, spot opportunities and ensure our strategy delivers real impact. You’ll collaborate closely with our data colleagues to bring monthly reinsurance accounts to life with accuracy and insight, while building strong relationships with our reinsurers to make sure our arrangements continue to support our growth and purpose.
Key Actions

Run reinsurance tenders that bring market insight to the table, securing competitive rates from a range of reinsurers
- Ensure our reinsurance arrangements stay fit for purpose, aligned to core principles and continuously delivering value to the business
- Support tenders by providing reinsurers with the experience data they need to make informed, high‑quality decisions
- Respond to reinsurer queries with clarity and pace, covering claims, underwriting and account data to keep everything moving smoothly
- Act as a key link between product, pricing, underwriting, DQM, distribution and claims teams, making sure reinsurers understand our priorities and have the information they need
- Contribute to treaty and addendum reviews to ensure agreements remain robust, up‑to‑date and commercially sound
- Help assess the financial impact of changes to reinsurance arrangements, rates and structures so leaders can make confident, data‑driven decisions
What do you need to thrive?
- Newly or nearly qualified Actuary
- Strong experience in a relevant life insurance role (pricing, experience analysis or reinsurance)
- Technically inclined with attention to detail
- Ability to communicate both verbally and written at all levels
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret a broad range of data and complex financial calculations
- Strong IT skills and comfortable working on multiple software packages (eg SQL, R, Phyton, Power BI, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Prophet experience will be an advantage)
- Work comfortably within a dynamic and changing environment
