Team – Data Engineering

Working Pattern - Hybrid – 2 days per week in the Vitality Bournemouth or London Office. Full time, 37.5 hours per week.

What this role is all about:

This brand new Data Engineer role will help build the data foundations that power machine learning and analytics across Vitality. You’ll work closely with our Pricing team, leveraging rich datasets and modern technologies to design and deliver reliable pipelines and APIs for Pricing and Underwriting strategy. This work will support Vitality's mission to improve people’s health.

Key Actions:

Work with the Data Engineering team to implement robust and trustworthy data to support high-performance streams and predictive models.
Collaborate with Vitality’s Pricing team to integrate pricing data, support actuarial and pricing models, and enable data-driven pricing decisions.
Deploy and maintain machine learning models as APIs for use in our live environments
Employ a variety of languages and tools (e.g. scripting languages) to develop and manage robust data pipelines connecting various systems
Develop datasets and processes that facilitate data modelling, mining and production
Provide clean, usable data to data community and recommend ways to improve data reliability, efficiency and quality
Research opportunities for data acquisition and new uses for existing data
Provide analytical and modelling support when required
Work collaboratively with the Data Science, Data Architecture, and other IT delivery teams to design, construct, install, test and maintain highly scalable data management systems.

What do you need to thrive?

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology/Systems/Sciences/Maths
3+ years of experience in business intelligence, data warehousing, data management and data delivery, database and ETL technologies.
This role requires high business engagement with a specialist Pricing and Underwriting Actuarial team
Experience using languages / tools / databases such as SQL and NoSQL, Python, Docker.
Strong technical experience in designing and delivering data in BI warehouse and/or Big Data Lakes, supporting on premise and cloud architecture
