About The Role

Team: Vitality Asia.

Working Pattern: Full-time in Shanghai office.

Top Three Skills Needed for this Role:

What This Role is All About:

The Head of Technical Marketing and Product R&D will co-lead PAHI’s product R&D and development strategy while establishing and leading a technical marketing function that positions PAHI as a thought leader in consumer-centric health insurance. The role drives the localization of Discovery’s Shared-value Insurance (SVI) model in China and plays a pivotal role in embedding product innovation, advanced analytics, and technical marketing into PAHI’s core offerings.

A critical aspect of this role is providing strategic communication support to the Deputy CEO and the Discovery Expert team – developing high-impact presentations, analytical reports, and go-to-market materials for internal and external forums. The role also contributes to strategic planning by leveraging global Vitality expertise and data-driven insights.

Key Actions:

  • Lead the development and enhancement of integrated health insurance products tailored to the China market
  • Drive the establishment of a Technical Marketing function, crafting narratives and technical content for distribution channels, corporate clients, healthcare professionals, and government stakeholders
  • Partner with global Technical Marketing teams (UK, SA, Asia) to leverage best-in-class tools and adapt them for PAHI
  • Draft strategic materials, including board-level presentations, speaking notes, and analytical reports for the Deputy CEO and senior leadership
  • Contribute to strategic planning and thought leadership by integrating international insights and local market intelligence
  • Support senior leadership by shaping and delivering compelling narratives for both internal and external stakeholders, including high-profile industry events

Essential:

  • Qualified actuary with significant experience in health or life insurance, product R&D, and technical/B2B marketing
  • Experience in a top-tier consulting firm (e.g., McKinsey, BCG, Bain) or similar strategic environment
  • Proven ability to operate in multi-national or joint-venture environments with cross-functional teams
  • Strong experience creating and delivering high-quality executive presentations, white papers, and technical collateral
  • Deep understanding of shared-value insurance, behavioral economics, and health engagement programs
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with proven ability to influence senior executives
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in Mandarin is a strong advantage

Advantageous:

  • Knowledge and experience of the China insurance & behaviour change markets would be advantageous
