What this role is all about:
This role involves taking full ownership of the product development cycle, from initial concept through to digital and operational execution. The successful candidate will be responsible for conceiving, researching, developing, and pricing new product structures, as well as monitoring product performance to identify areas for innovation and improvement. The ideal candidate will excel in analytical, research, and conceptual thinking, and will be adept at working efficiently to produce high-quality deliverables. Additionally, this role requires strong written communication skills to support R&D product governance responsibilities.
Key Actions
- Connects and researches new opportunities for product enhancement and evolution.
- Support in the conceptualisation and development of new product, benefit and partner features for Vitality; rapidly iterating on these concepts, the actuarial pricing and clinical foundation thereof so further enhance the effectiveness of the programme.
- Presents these to senior executives to enable discussion and debate of optimal product structures. Facilitates the debate.
- Estimates the cost of different product structures using validated assumptions (SA data, partner data, industry and market data) and professional judgment.
- Produces a product specification that is the source document for product implementation. Participates in business definition workshops with digital, change, IT and operations teams and takes decisions with these teams on implementation issues so as to deliver against original product intent.
- Defines key metrics indicative of product performance and monitors these metrics on an ongoing basis.
- Collaboration and coordination across actuarial, product, technical marketing and clinical teams at various stages during the product development cycle.
- Engages with key product governance stakeholders and assists in analysing product performance in terms of customer outcomes, while being responsible for driving actions identified.
What do you need to thrive?
- Part qualified Actuary demonstrating good progress with their actuarial exams (maximum 3 – 4 exams remaining).
- 2 to 3 years work experience.
- Extensive business and/or technical experience with a proven track record of innovation, entrepreneurship, delivery and performance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Sophisticated written and verbal communication skills, for internal and external delivery.
- Strong work ethic with focus on value added delivery.
- High degree of personal maturity and a natural capacity to self-reflect, learn and develop.
- Ability to handle change and navigate ambiguity.
- Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills.
