About The Role

Team – Actuarial - Life

Working Pattern - Hybrid – 2 days per week in the Vitality London Office. Full time, 37.5 hours per week. 

What this role is all about:

As an Actuarial Manager in the Life Actuarial department at Vitality Life, you'll specialise in valuations and capital management, gaining hands-on experience and contributing to the company's financial stability and strategic choices.

This candidate would join the generalist layer in our Life Actuarial Team. This would involve working across both Life Valuations (IFRS17) and Capital (Solvency II)

Key Actions

  • Valuations (IFRS/SII): Performing regular actuarial valuations on both the IFRS17 and Solvency II basis including analysing and explaining movements in the components of these bases to stakeholders in the business.
  • Financial Reporting: Preparing and presenting financial reports, including embedded value calculations, experience reports and assumption reviews.
  • Modelling and Projections: Developing and maintaining actuarial models using Excel/R/PowerBI/Prophet.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Working closely with key stakeholders, including senior management, to communicate findings and provide insights that support decision-making.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Including model point creation to support IFRS17 and Solvency II valuations, and data preparation to support experience analysis and assumption reviews.
  • Project Management: Leading and overseeing actuarial projects, ensuring they are completed on time and to a high standard.
  • Transfer of knowledge: This individual would be required to support and manage more junior members of the team.

What do you need to thrive?

  • Student or associate member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries or equivalent
  • Or: Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries or equivalent
  • Knowledge of more advanced visualisation/dashboarding tools such as Power BI
  • Experience of working within financial services, particularly in health or life insurance
  • Knowledge of SQL, writing and editing complex queries to extract and process data
